Explore the breathtaking Dollarhide Estate Vineyard firsthand. With over 1530 acres and only 1/3 planted to vine, the property has steep and rolling hills, some flat lands, seven lakes and plenty of wildlife.
To encourage the habitation of the California native Western bluebird, we built over 100 bluebird boxes surrounding and throughout the vineyards. Western bluebirds eat mosquitos and herbivorous insects including the blue-green sharpshooter, a vector of Pierce’s disease, which is harmful to grapevines. We also have 10 owl boxes to attract the aggressive barn owl to combat gophers who at one time, destroyed a number of vines.
